The aging process is universal—impacting not only our clients but also our colleagues, families, and ourselves. For attorneys, understanding the psychological, cognitive, and relational aspects of aging is essential for effective advocacy and sustainable professional practice.

In this two-hour CLE, Licensed Professional Counselor Elly Sanchez will draw on more than 20 years of clinical and supervisory experience to provide attorneys with an accessible framework for understanding the impacts of aging. The session will explore the ways aging affects decision-making, communication, and relationships, and how these changes may intersect with legal representation.

Faculty: Elly Sanchez, LPC

Elly Sanchez is a Licensed Professional Counselor with dual licensure in Alaska and Arizona, bringing over 20 years of clinical experience to her practice. She earned her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Alaska Pacific University and has been licensed for 14 years.

Ms. Sanchez is the owner of a thriving group practice and has demonstrated leadership throughout her career in various clinical settings. She previously served as the lead therapist at Providence's Crisis Recovery Center and co-facilitated healthy adult relationships groups with local Marriage and Family therapists for nearly a decade. Her practice began with individual and couples therapy before expanding to a full group practice.

Currently, Ms. Sanchez provides counseling support to individuals and couples in her group practice, provides critical incident response services both within Alaska and nationally, and supervises emerging professional counselors. She has ever increasing experience in psychoeducation, having provided training for organizations including ConocoPhillips and now the Alaska State Bar Association.

With two decades of therapeutic work with individuals and couples across all age groups, Ms. Sanchez brings both clinical expertise and personal insight to understanding the universal aging process. Her approach to psychoeducation is known for distilling complex topics into accessible, practical frameworks that professionals can immediately apply in their work.
