Ms. Lindemuth started her new role as Attorney General for the State of Alaska on August 8,2016.Before becoming Attorney General, she spent 18 years in private practice at Dorsey & Whitney, LLP. Asa partner in the commercial litigation group, she represented clients in complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts, administrative agencies, and private arbitrations. Her work brought her before the Alaska Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on many occasions, helping to hone her skills in legal research, writing, and oral argument. She has broad experience in many types of law including oil and gas, consumer protection, Alaska Native law issues including the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) and the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, ethics and fiduciary duty issues and telecommunications. Clients have commended Ms. Lindemuth’s “strategic approach” to dispute resolution,as well as her invaluable insight, problem solving skills, and excellent judgment.
Ms. Lindemuth’s advocacy and leadership have earned her the respect of clients, opposing counsel, the judiciary, and industry media organizations. In addition to being AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, she was named as a Top 10 Attorney in Alaska for 2014 and 2015 by Super Lawyers, a Local Litigation Starby Benchmark Litigation for 2013-2015, one of the Top 250 Women in Litigation by Benchmark Litigation for 2012-2015, and is ranked Tier One by Chambers USA.
While keeping up a full caseload, she donated many hours providing pro bono legal services to clients who could not afford an attorney, including representing one of the Fairbanks Four in a post-conviction relief proceeding in 2015. In reaching a settlement with the State of Alaska in December 2015, she secured the Fairbanks Four’s release after eighteen years of imprisonment and the court vacated their convictions.
Ms. Lindemuth managed Dorsey’s Anchorage office for eight years before leaving Dorsey to become Alaska's Attorney General, and was recognized for her leadership skills. For example, she was named Partner of the Year at Dorsey in 2012 because of her effective mentorship of junior attorneys.
Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Ms. Lindemuth obtained her J.D. from University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall School of Law) in 1997, graduating Order of the Coif, and clerked for the Honorable Robert L. Eastaugh on the Alaska Supreme Court from 1997 to 1998. Ms. Lindemuth served on the Alaska Supreme Court Appellate Rules Committee for more than ten years, the Alaska Bar’s Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection Committee for several years, and was Co-Chair of the Appellate Law Section of the Alaska Bar before being named Attorney General.
